How to make salts
When acids and bases react with each other, they can form a salt and water. This is called a neutralization reaction and takes the following form.
Common Acids used to make salts
Hydrochloric Acid (HCl) to make chlorides.
Sulfuric Acid (H2SO4) to make sulfates.
Nitric Acid (HNO3) to make nitrates.
Sample equations using common acids
HCl +NaOH -> NaCl (Sodium Chloride) + H20
H2SO4 + KOH -> K2SO4 (Potassium Nitrate) + H20
HNO3 +LiOH –> LiNO3 (lithium nitrate) + H20
